Paris was originally a Roman city called "Lutetia".
There's only one stop sign in the entire city of Paris. |
From 1814 to 1830 the flag of the kingdom of France was plain white.
The flag known today originated at the time of the French Revolution - the three colors are representative of the king (white) and the city of Paris (blue and red). |

RANDOM FACTS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT FRANCE:
- Napoleon wasn't short (as depicted in many historical portrayals). He was actually above the the average Frenchman!
- The French government gives medals to citizens who have "successfully raised several children with dignity".
- There is a coffee shop in France that makes your coffee more expensive if you do not say "hello" and "please"!
