France is a country located in Europe. It covers an area of 210,026 square miles making it the largest country in Western Europe. This country is known as the gateway between the northern and southern regions of the continent.
France is surrounded by several different geographical features: Germany and Belgium in the north, the Pyrenees Mountains in the south, and the Mediterranean Sea in the southeast. To the east, there is Switzerland, the Alps, and Italy. The Atlantic Ocean borders France on the west.
The country of France is very diverse and features a variety of landscapes. It has beaches along the southeast coast – which is where you can find the French Riviera. On the east you will find towering mountains that are home to Mont Blanc within the French Alps. This mountain happens to be Europe’s tallest peak!
