Most employees of French public broadcaster Radio France are returning to work after four week strike protesting proposed reorganization that would have resulted in hundreds of layoffs; government's appointment of mediator and promise to work with unions prompted strike's end.

France is considering legislation that would set minimum weight for fashion models in effort to stem glamorization of overly-thin women and associated health issues, primarily anorexia.

January 7, 2015

Gun attack on Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo kills 12. Four of the magazine's well-known cartoonists, including its editor, as well as two police officers were among those killed. Investigation is under way in what is being called a "terrorist attack" involving three gunmen who fled by car. It is believed to be the deadliest attack in France since 1961.
